Let me share my career life. I should start from the very first beginning. After my final year exam, I went back to Ygn and spent around 2months and enjoyed Thingyan, too. Then I came back and had some rest about one week. After that, I started to search job through online like jobstreet.com and jobsdb.com, sending out resume. And I happened to send my resume to my previous attachment company, YCH. I sent out the resume in the early morning and got reply from the manager for the interview in the evening at 6pm. So I went there, just give it a try. My first interview, I mean for starting my career. I reached the office at 6pm sharp. And my colleagues went so surprised to see me at the office again cos very few student came back to this company for work. (The life there is quite challenging and the expectations are very high.) So I met my manager and Senior officer. They two interviewed me. Remember! Your smile really made a very first nice greeting. (And I smile a lot, naturally) My manager asked me the followings :

Why did you choose this company?
How strong is your double entry? (respective professional field)
Are you able to take stress?
What are your strength in your accounting?

For me, he didn't ask much because in my resume, I put my previous supervisor name and he asked my supervisor before I went there. He told me he had a very good comment from my supervisor and the most important thing was that I was a responsible person, which he liked most. The whole interview was filled with laughter and some jokes after I answered the major questions seriously. After that, we started to negotiate about the salary. Then, I got the job. He asked me when I could start work. After I got the job, before I started working, I passed one of the forms for company to fill in for application of PR from ICA which was sent to me via post after graduation. I needed to have an employment pass to start working while waiting for PR application to be approved. Then I looked through the check list and gathered necessary documents and went to ICA and spent around 4 to 5hrs 'cause there was a lot of people. Finally, the ICA chopped the Employment pass in my passport and told me that it will need at most 3mths for PR. Of course, they took back my student pass. *sob bye bye student status. So, only after I got the employment pass, I photocopied that page from my passport and give it to the company on my first working day. I was under the General Ledger side. My manager introduced me to my colleagues and told me about my job scope. And started teaching about the Oracle Application software which the company was using. Then he passed me 3 folders of schedules to have some idea and told me to do them for the current month. There, I was jus flipping through and gave it a try. It was quite tough, no doubt. Believe it or not. First day, OT till 10pm 'cause I wanted to finish my schedules. Well, my probation period was 3months and during that 3 months, I had a tough life and lost weights. LOL.

But I came to realize that the language modules which I had learnt at school were very useful for me,too You know. Communication skills for Business and Etiquette and Professional Image. You have to look like a professional and act like one 'cause everybody is watching you in every second, be it you know about it or not. And whenever you send out an email, it is a must to CC someone so that it acts like a proof of what you have done. The tone, of 'cause, it should be polite and professional like we learnt at school. Next thing is that you have to talk like a professional one 'cause you'll be talking on phone with suppliers and customers. So, guys, if you think the language modules you're taking at school is boring, you might need to think twice 'cause you'll know their values when you come out to work. You're a professional. They expect a lot from you. And to them, you're a well-equipped input which need to touch up a bit only. Of cos, you have to bring out what you have learnt from school and apply at work. Believe me. Even without knowing, when you're working, you'll start to recall what you have learnt at school.

As I was saying, after one and a half month later, I got the PR. And now, life at YCH is getting better and better under the guidance of my manager and my seniors. So I start to gain weight again. haha.. I should exercise more. haha..Okie. Just sharing my work experience.
